A large-scale magnetite mine recently completed a technical upgrade for its crushing and processing line, boosting annual production capacity to 3.5 million tons. The ore has an average grade exceeding 26%, and the facility utilizes a “wet low-intensity magnetic separation” process to produce iron concentrate. This upgrade increased the hourly capacity from 200 tons to 500 tons; core equipment includes the C6X Jaw Crusher, HPT Multi-cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher, and S5X Vibrating Screen.
In the processing workflow, run-of-mine ore (0–800 mm) is fed evenly from a hopper by a vibrating feeder into the C6X Jaw Crusher for primary crushing. This crusher features a robust, durable, bolt-assembled frame and outputs medium-sized ore (60–300 mm). The material is then conveyed to the HPT Multi-cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher for secondary crushing. Utilizing the principle of inter-particle (lamination) crushing—where material is crushed against itself—this unit achieves high efficiency, making it particularly suitable for metallic ores like magnetite. The crushed material undergoes precise screening by the S5X Vibrating Screen. Material meeting the required particle size is sent to the product stockpile, while oversized material is returned to the HPT Cone Crusher for re-crushing. This “three-stage, one-closed-circuit” crushing process ensures the ore fed into the separation stage is consistently sized at -12 mm.
Following the project’s commissioning, overall energy consumption has dropped significantly, achieving the dual goals of efficient resource utilization and green production, while also ensuring a stable supply of industrial raw materials.
