Chile is the world’s largest copper producer and has many world-class large copper mines. The mined ore is large in size, high in hardness, and contains a certain amount of gangue minerals. In order to efficiently process these ores and meet the requirements of subsequent mineral processing processes, the customer invested in and built a modern crushing and processing production line locally.

The production line adopts a typical “three-stage and one closed-circuit” crushing process:

The ore is first evenly fed into a large jaw crusher through a vibrating feeder to initially crush the large ore to about 150-200mm. The crushed ore is sent to the cone crusher for medium crushing via a belt conveyor, and the product size is further reduced to about 40-60mm. The medium-crushed product enters the short-head cone crusher for fine crushing. This section is equipped with a vibrating screen for closed-loop circulation. The unqualified coarse particles on the screen are returned to the cone crusher for re-crushing, and the screened product is the final qualified particle size. The particle size of the crushed product finally output by the production line is strictly controlled within 12mm, and most of the particle sizes are concentrated in the range of 0-10mm.

The case of the crushing and processing production line of this copper mine shows how large-scale copper mines can achieve efficient, stable and low-cost ore pretreatment with the support of modern technology. It not only improves the economic benefits of the mine, but also provides important reference value for the development of copper mines under similar conditions around the world.
